Interview with de-transitioner Chloe Cole, who warns of complexities of gender transition surgeries

summarised by The Centrist

Chloe Cole is 18 years old and shares her personal journey of transitioning from female to male as a teenager.

Cole underwent medical and social transitioning, including hormone therapy and a double mastectomy. She reflects on the lack of thorough diagnosis and treatment and expresses concern that underlying conditions and traumas were not adequately addressed by medical professionals.

Highlighting the influence of social media and the desire for a sense of community in her decision-making process, Cole expresses how she felt drawn to the false sense of happiness and belonging portrayed by online activist communities.

She warns against allowing children and teenagers to undergo medical procedures. The procedures have significant and lifelong impacts on various aspects of their lives, such as social interactions, romantic relationships, fertility, and overall health.

While she acknowledges that some individuals may have early feelings of being the opposite sex, she emphasises that these feelings do not necessarily equate to being transgender.

Cole’s story serves as a powerful testimony to the complexities and challenges faced by individuals navigating gender identity issues.
