New Zealand’s central hub for news online
Founded in 2023, Centrist is a free online news platform aimed at curating New Zealand relevant content that is important when it comes time to vote. We provide links and summarise our top picks from a growing list of independent, alternative, and mainstream media.
Centrist presents under-served perspectives while emphasising reason-based analysis, even if it might be too hot for mainstream media to handle. The Centrist is a time effective way to stay updated with Kiwi news.
Here’s how we do it:
-
- Staying current with the growing amount of quality NZ news content
-
- Distribute an easy to digest index of curated articles, every few days, including summaries of some of our favourites
-
- Financially support selected stories
-
- Financially support legal actions to hold power in check, eg. any attempts to censor.
-
- Provide an abbreviated weekly summary newsletter called Centrist exclusives
Goals
We aim to achieve the following:
-
- Inform and interest Kiwis on the big issues facing New Zealand.
-
- Distill a broad range of news sources – with style – saving readers time and money.
-
- Provide original content and analysis that challenges Kiwis to think critically.
-
- Provide a centrist view examining the merits of both sides.
-
- Strengthen democracy and scrutinise power.
