Immigrant reflects on the positives of life in New Zealand

Summarised by Centrist

Life in New Zealand gets a big thumbs up from one Filipino immigrant who’s spent the last four and a half years here. From friendly locals to family-friendly workplaces, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows—but it’s pretty close!

That’s according to an immigrant from the Philippines who recently shared their positive experience living in New Zealand, highlighting several aspects they love about the country on the social media site Quora.

They appreciate the egalitarian nature of Kiwi society, where people are treated with respect regardless of income.

The person states “It doesn’t matter if you make a lot of money or not so much, people will generally treat you with respect without regards to how much paycheck you take home and I absolutely love this about living in NZ.”

The friendliness of locals, even during everyday activities like grocery shopping, has made settling-in a positive experience.

The family-oriented work culture also stands out, with employers showing flexibility for family commitments without guilt.

The anonymous person mentioned that driving in New Zealand is much safer and more polite compared to the Philippines.

“Every now and then I see people complaining how bad Kiwi drivers are – they clearly have not driven in Manila,” he writes.

According to the commentator, drivers generally respect traffic rules and show gratitude on the road.

Weather-wise, they enjoy Auckland’s balance—close to both the beach and ski slopes, offering the best of both worlds.
