Lushington D. Brady writes on his concerns about what he perceives as the left’s persistence in pushing their agenda, even when democratically opposed.
“No matter how many times they’re democratically told to shove off, the left scream and stamp their feet and hold their breath until they get their way,” he says.
Brady calls it “co-governance by stealth” in New Zealand, where local councils are forming agreements with iwi without transparent disclosure to residents.
In Te Tauihu, an agreement called “Together Te Tauihu” has been signed by eight iwi and three local councils. Brady says the document is mostly in Te Reo making it difficult to understand by the vast majority of residents. He says it is vague and lacks substance other than opaque nods to co-governance, UNDRIP and ‘the evolving principles’ of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Brady cautions Kiwis “to keep a sharp eye on what the left is trying to sneak in through the back door”.
