Antarctica sea ice has increased since 1979, defying climate alarmist narratives

Summarised by Centrist

Sea ice around Antarctica has “slowly increased” since satellite monitoring began in 1979 according to a study published in The Cryosphere. The paper found no conclusive evidence that human activity is behind the changes, contrary to mainstream media claims.

The Financial Times previously warned of a “catastrophic cascade of extreme environmental events” linked to declining Antarctic ice. Yet, EU weather service Copernicus acknowledges there is “no clear long-term trend” in Antarctic sea ice since 1979 and notes Arctic ice decline has “levelled off since 2007.”

According to Chris Morrison of The Daily Sceptic, Antarctica’s climate has barely warmed in 70 years, and past climate scares, such as the ozone hole, offer perspective. While chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) bans were hailed as a triumph, the ozone hole continues its natural cycles.

“One by one the appalling scares that have been used by Net Zero fanatics to promote mass climate psychosis in human populations are being exposed as wishful junk thinking,” he states.

Claims of the “hottest year evah” rely on “ woefully incomplete” records less than 100 years old. The Net Zero agenda is facing resistance as voters reject policies that overlook practicalities.

Morrison concludes: “Crucial to this trend is an emerging understanding that the scientific process when it comes to climate has been trashed for decades and replaced with an increasingly laughable junk ‘settled’ science narrative.”
