Scrolling too much? It could be wrecking your mental health

Spending too much time on your phone or binge-watching can mess with your mind. A new study says the more time we spend glued to our screens, the worse our mental health gets. Americans lose around three days a month just scrolling and streaming. 

For Gen Z, it’s even worse—they feel like they’re losing five days a month to mindless content.

People with “very poor” mental health are losing almost six days a month to screen time. Many are suffering feelings of guilt because of it. Nearly half of the people surveyed said they consume too much media, and it makes their mood worse, especially after being on social media. Gen Z is the most likely to admit they use too much media, with 66% agreeing.

Psychiatrist Dr Sham Singh suggests creating “tech-free” zones at home, setting intentions before using your phone, and reflecting on how different content makes you feel.
