Jerry Seinfeld has told the New Yorker Radio Hour podcast there is almost nothing funny on TV in the current climate – and that “extreme left PC crap” is interfering with comedians’ work.

The legendary New York comedian – who turned 70 on April 29, and recently became worth over $1bn – said in his interview that comedy is suffering as the result of the extreme left “And PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people.”

Seinfeld added that very few TV shows are funny enough to survive, with only Curb Your Enthusiasm being an exception because Larry David (who co-created Seinfeld) seems immune to current cultural restrictions.

“Larry was grandfathered in,” Seinfeld said. “He’s old enough to say, ‘I don’t have to observe those rules, because I started before you made those rules.”

Seinfeld has previously spoken up about wokeness destroying audiences’ ability to laugh and challenged cancel culture.
