How to set up your free Centrist account

A free account lets you comment on stories, choose the name other readers see and manage all your activity in one place.

If you previously commented on Centrist, please claim your existing account rather than creating a second one. Otherwise, create your free account here.

After signing up, check your inbox for a verification email. If it does not appear, check your spam or junk folder.

1. Sign in

Once your account is verified, sign in using the account area at the top right of the website, marked 1 in the image.

2. Choose your display name

On the My Account page, enter the name you want other readers to see in the field marked 2.

You do not have to use your full name. You can use your first name, initials or another suitable display name.

3. Save your display name

Click Save, marked 3.

4. Choose your @handle

Enter a unique handle in the field marked 4. For example, JuneM_NZ_Centrist.

Click Check and Save to confirm that your chosen handle is available.

You are now ready to comment on Centrist stories. You can also add a profile picture, customise your profile and manage your posts and comments from your account page.
