A call to remove gender ideology from Relationship and Sexuality guide

Resist Gender Education (RGE) advocates for the Relationship and Sexuality Education (RSE) guide to be stripped of gender ideology for scientifically accurate and age-appropriate content.

The group says supporters of RSE in the media are focusing on consent, sexuality, and relationships while omitting teachings about sex being on a spectrum and that boys can have periods. At the same time, opposition to the guide is characterised as originating from a small group of parents influenced by US rhetoric.

The group says the Ministry of Education hands-off approach leaves schools to handle the debate around the RSE guide, which according to RGE: 

“(S)trongly reinforces the need for parents to collaborate and ensure the whole community is included in meaningful RSE consultation.”
